Caffè Florian meets a traditional product of the Veneto Region: the delicious Zaeti.
These sweets were mentioned in one of Goldoni’s comedy already in 1749 and were the typical Carnival biscuits.
Venetian people usually dunk them in sweet wines (the writer suggested to choose the Zibibbo wine).
The Zaeti take their name from the characteristic golden colour of the maizen-flour used in the mix, in fact “zalo” is the dialect word for yellow. The addition of raisin makes these biscuits irresistible.
